Sooner or later if you run an auto shop you will need to weld something. At first, you may just find a place on the concrete safely away from flammable materials and other people. Once outside you can set up your arc welder choose one of your favorite welding helmets and start welding. But eventually, it may become necessary to set up a dedicated area as a welding shop. There are many advantages to having a dedicated welding shop. Some welding processes are simply not suited to outside work. For example, gas metal and gas tungsten require surrounding air to be still. This is because the shielding gas can be blown away. Arc welding should only be done in dry areas and away from the rain due to the electric shock hazard. Another reason is the outside temperature. Cold metals do not weld as well as metal at 70 degrees F. Welding is a dangerous activity and your surroundings should be as controlled as possible. Use a welding machine in the outdoors leaves too many variables and welding right in the middle of your auto shop is just too dangerous.

During the welding process sparks and bits of slag can scatter up to 40 feet from the area of welding. This can cause damage to people and create a fire hazard. In your welding shop you build a metal table to do your welding on and stay away from wood or other materials that can catch fire. The welding shop should be in an area that is well ventilated. Welding can generate dangerous gases that need to be removed from the room and smoke as well. Also, bright overhead light needs to be set up and aimed over your welding table. If your auto shop has an extra room with cinder block walls and a concrete floor, you are in luck. This will make an ideal place for your welding shop. You want to avoid any surface that can be damaged or set on fire by sparks and hot slag.

Once you have your room set up correctly, various power tools will be needed as well as your welding accessories. Power tools such as a reciprocating saw, angle grinder, portable band saw, and a chop saw will come in handy during your welding projects. An angle grinder is ideal for removing excess slag and cleaning up rough edges on metal. Specific tools for working on metal will be needed as well. These include metal brakes and metal benders that are available for all sizes of metal. Other suggested tools are magnetic clamp, center punch, metal file, C-clamp, corner clamp, cold chisel, ball peen hammer and a hacksaw. This not a complete list but is generally a good place to start. The list of tools you can use in welding is almost endless and you will constantly discover new tools that you will need as you become more advanced in the art of welding.

Setting up a welding shop is really about common sense more than technical know how. Neophytes to welding are quick to forget about the extreme temperatures needed in the welding process and therefore do not realize the fire hazard of a welding area. If you are more experienced, it is fairly obvious that carpet in your welding shop is not a good idea. A good welding shop not only protects the welder and aids in good welding but it protects the other people in your auto shop by not exposing them to hot sparks and blinding light.

Welding is an occupation that plays a role in many types of construction and repair work. Trained welders are needed to assist with building skyscrapers, hospitals, schools, and homes. They can repair damaged roofs, steel beams, and a variety of other materials through processes that emphasize heating and pressure treatments. The work is challenging and may be difficult at times, but welding literally lays the cornerstone of many of society’s structures.

If you are thinking about getting trained to do welding work on a temporary or a permanent basis, here are some points to consider:

	1. The pay isn’t bad. Depending on the cost of living for your area, the type of company you work for, and the conditions of your welding assignment, you could make a hefty hourly rate. Given overtime, that amount can increase rapidly, especially with long-term assignments. Oftentimes you can set your own hours, including weekends and evenings, but this will depend on where you are employed. Some companies offer health care benefits, disability and life insurance, and even tuition assistance for employees who want to sign up for college.

	2. Work conditions can be trying. Outdoor welding jobs may be available year-round, but that means you could be working outdoors in sub-freezing temperatures, so you will have to dress accordingly. When you weld indoors, you will have to set up a cloistered area where fumes and light from the flame don’t bother other employees or bystanders. In the summer, unventilated areas can quickly attain triple-digit temperatures to cause welders to swelter and sometimes make breathing difficult.

	3. Safety issues are important. You will need industry-regulation equipment and protection, including goggles, a faceplate, and perhaps clothing covers. It is important to keep up with equipment specs that can change over time. You should learn something about first aid procedures for welding-related injuries or hazard exposures. Don’t take shortcuts with the equipment, and wear required equipment at all times while working.

	4. You may need to travel. If you work with construction sites, you know how seasonal the work can be. You might need to head south during the colder months, or face unemployment during that time. Travel costs, including hotel, food, and mileage, are usually provided on top of your hourly rate, which also can increase when you work out of town. But the down side is time spent away from home and family at special times.

If you want a job that keeps you active and away from a desk, welding might be the career for you. Find out about welders’ training in your area to see if you qualify and can start building your occupational future. Technical schools and community colleges are two places that often offer welding classes that can lead to certification for career and employment purposes. Even if you eventually move on to another field later, knowing how to weld is a valuable skill that could serve you well when building your own home or assisting with family projects.

Scott Linden author of The 100k Welder explains how most welders know nothing about marketing and that if they did thye could find a welding job. Also, he says that schools go about teaching people the slow way, when really hard to learn skills can be learned fast if you know the right welding procedures.
Help answer the question about welding jobs
Are there any mig welding jobs in Dallas?
My friend has been in the mig welding jobs for about 3 years and he is pretty good at it, but he wants to move to Dallas and he can't find mig welding jobs in Dallas.
If you’re already looking at getting your Welder Associate’s degree in Florida or anywhere in the rest of the country, you have probably heard about how much demand there is for qualified welders in the industry.

There are lots of high paying, entry level welding jobs available to qualified welders who have passed their certification tests. Since welding regulation is so granular in the United States and the qualifications are so different based on where you got your welding associates degree or other welding training, it’s important to have good core education to back you up as you search for a fulfilling and lucrative welding career.

Many Welding Opportunities Available In a Variety of Locations

There are many different choices for someone who has attained a Welder Associate’s degree. Some pay much better than others.

• Entry-level “roustabout” welding job on an off shore oil rig can pay up to $60,000 a year, and workers typically get half the year off.

• Joining a local welding union will also help you get steady work with good pay. It’s common knowledge that union jobs pay better than non-union jobs. If you have a more artistic bent working in a custom design shop or machine shop could be a perfect application of your welding skills.

• Pipe welders often make more money than those who can’t weld pipes. Also, welders who can successfully weld different materials such as aluminum and stainless steel are also in high demand and can get paid a lot more.

• Different types of welding have different applications and different pay scales. MIG welding is common and is the easiest type to perform. TIG welding is harder and typically those who are successful TIG welders do well.

Getting an Associate’s Degree is a Great First Step for a Welding Career

The key to finding a welding job that can make your monetary dreams come true is to succeed in the field to begin with. Getting a welding associate’s degree from an accredited welding school is the most important step because that training will help you get a foot in the door so that you can continue your practical education on the job.

A simple search online will show you how vast and varied the offer for used welding equipment really easy; there are pictures of welding devices prior to reconditioning to reflect the amount of work as a guarantee for quality refurbishing as well as price comparisons between new and second hand devices. Most of the companies that sell such products offer advantageous warranties and even the option of returning the used welding equipment within thirty days in case you have any objections to its working quality. For those interested in the historic development of industrial technologies, technical museums usually have used welding equipment on display, reflecting the specificity of welding in time.

Before purchasing used welding equipment, a serious analysis of the business purpose is required so that you make sure that low costs are the most important issue at stake. There are several factors that should influence such a decision, but the most important ones worth talking about here are the utilization needs and the volume needs. For instance, you have to determine the utilization rate of the used welding equipment as well as the number of welders necessary to keep the business going. Last but not least the technological requirements are equally important for optimum functionality.

Most people who choose to buy used welding equipment are those who don’t exploit it for too long a period of time; otherwise, if you have to utilize the welding devices at least in 70% of the activities, then, buying a new model is the more advantageous variant. Note the fact that high volume arc needs are also important when it comes to purchasing used welding equipment. You can use an inverter and an engine that performs both welding and power generation at the same time, and thus you’ll cut off the expenses. Such a system is operated by a two-man team and requires professional certification.

For small working areas, special used welding equipments that incorporate 100 kw generators should be purchased to make sure that the maximum efficiency levels are achieved. In time, the analysis of the amortization rate in relation with the regular costs of the welding complex should provide a clear image of the profitability of your investment. It goes without saying that before purchasing any used welding equipments it is advisable to see all the technical peculiarities of the product and perform a professional check if possible. If you choose to buy used welding equipment on the Internet, see what kind of certifications and approvals the company that sells them has.

Many people do welding work for a living. Welding means pieces of materials are joined together. A welder can join certain metals like steel aluminum, brass, stainless steel, plastic or polymer. Welder also means equipment used for welding process. There are various types of welding like Arc welding, MIG Welding, TIG Welding etc.

MIG (Metal Inert gas) welding is also called as GMAW (gas metal arc welding) is generally used for welding aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. The major advantage of this type of welding is that metals can be welded much quicker than traditional welding “stick welding” techniques. It can be used with a variety of metals and alloys. MIG welding produces a clean weld with very little splatter.

TIG (Tungsten inert gas) welding is a process of blending together reactive metals such as magnesium and aluminum. During the process of TIG welding, an arc is formed between a pointed tungsten electrode and the area to be welded. As a result of the gas shield, a clean weld is formed. This prevents oxidization from occurring. TIG welding can be used for different joints like butt joint, lap joint, corner joint and t-joint.

Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is an automatic or semi-automatic welding process. Shielding gas and a continuous, consumable wire electrode are fed through a welding gun. GMAW uses a constant power source such as voltage or a direct current to weld together materials such as steel and aluminum. This welding is generally used in sheet metal industry. The equipment used in GMAW is a welding gun; a wire feed unit, an electrode wire and a shielding gas supply.

Arc welding is done through the use of an electrical current, and can be performed by using inexpensive equipment. Resistance welding involves the use of additional sheets of metal to encase the pieces to be welded together. It is the most environmentally-friendly of all methods, but it requires costly equipment that cannot be used in all situations. Energy beam welding, also known as laser beam welding, is one of the most modern techniques used. Laser welding is fast and accurate, but the high equipment cost makes it prohibitive for many industries.

Welding cannot be done with all types of metals, as some materials, such as stainless steel, are prone to cracking and distortion when overheated. Alloys are particularly problematic, since it’s hard to know the exact chemical composition of the metal. Welding has become highly automatized over the last decade, and the use of welding robots is now commonplace in certain industries, such as the automotive manufacturing plants.

What does the temporary category of employment agencies mean? Today, there are a number of employment agencies that cater specifically to offering you temporary work. They are commonly known as temporary or temp employment agencies.

These agencies cater to those who have attained at least a high school qualification or above. Some agencies in the temporary category of employment agencies also offer services those professionals who are seeking part time or short-term employment.

Under the temporary category of employment agencies is labor hire. This term means outsourcing unskilled and skilled blue-collar workers for different temporary jobs. Light industry is where most of them are hired. Many applicants who want to gain skill and experience in jobs like check sorting, parts assembly, welding, forklift driving and shipping, opt for temporary jobs in these fields.

Medical staffing agency is another example of the specialized jobs that temporary employment agencies offer. They include certified, licensed and skilled medical workers for different health facilities like rehabilitation, hospice and nursing facilities. In these agencies, jobs range from radiologists or general practitioners to even dental assistants.

There are many other agencies with a more limited group of companies and applicants. An example of this is an agency forhiring licensed vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants. Agencies that deal with nurse staffing cater to intensive care or critical care, internal medicine hospitals, family practices and even delivery and labor clinics.

On a broader scale, there are different jobs offered by the temporary employment agencies related to the food and food service industry, and the jobs can range from bus girls/boys, cashiers, hostesses/hosts, food servers and waitress/waiters. White-collar jobs like desk work and clerical work are for technical writers, copy writers, secretaries, encoders and transcription handlers. Maintenance jobs for sanitation personnel, carpenters, window washers, house painters and landscape artists are also offered by these agencies.

These temporary employment agencies offer valuable services when it comes to hiring companies offering skill testing and background checks. Temp agencies even offer a wide array of hobs available to qualified jobseekers when they cannot access postings or job listings.

Although there exist a number of temp agencies country wide whose listings can be found in many websites and phone directories, many temporary employment agencies prefer to conduct a preliminary skill testing and interview. This means that the different applicants will have to personally apply for the jobs and take around an hour of testing.

http://www.thecontractor411.com

People have been throwing comments back and forth about weather Contractor Management www.thecontractor411.com is worth the time. I wanted to take a non-bias approach in reviewing this company and its opportunity and see if the supposed thousands of contractors and handymen all around the US that have reached increased contract volume with this program are really reaping the rewards that the network and its clients boast about.

What is Contractor Management thecontractor411 all about? How does it work?

Basically, to become a member of the program, you must pay the insurance company for your background check and bank certs plus very inexpensive administrative fees equaling a total of $99 bucks. While most programs will misguide you and lead you to failure, I have found TheContractor411.com to be very upfront in their communications answering all questions in order for the prospective contractor handyman or crew to feel safe and secure about getting started.

I have researched all levels of construction lead agrigators and it appears through asking other contractors on message boards and insiders in the industry that thousands of people are using Contractor Management LLC to ad to there steady income from construction jobs, REO properties as well as commercial and residential hot leads provided weekly for FREE.

Why Do some people Fail?

I have found that the 2 main reasons people don’t succeed with thecontractor411.com is;

#1 because they don’t follow the companies directions given in emails after they pass the background check, or #2 they are just on “just looking” autopilot with out ever committing to any one lead or job to give it a shot.

Motivation will be a key component to any online venture and if you don’t have personal motivations it will be hard to get it from others.

So whats the best construction jobs lead site?

One that WORKS! I know that seems obvious, but many do not work, or they will have you spending THOUSANDS with little or no results.

Depending on your starting budget, and how quick you need an income will determine the level of success. The slower programs can make you nearly just as much for less money upfront, only at a much slower pace (typically months compared to weeks).

TheContractor411 Contractor Management has earned my seal of approval for anyone with $99 bucks to put into action immediately. Follow their tried and true approach and I will personally guarantee your success. The foundation of TheContractor411 is one that is NOT used in other programs on the internet. They have a 13 year reputation with the banks and homeowners they have relationships with. If you earn your stripes with Contractor Management I can ensure you will be on the fast track to massive gains in no time in your construction or handyman business.

What if I don’t have the money?

When I first got started in construction many years ago I not only couldn’t afford to get started, I couldn’t afford for a positive change not to happen in my life. I personally had to sell one of my very cherished treasure’s to get started initially, but the rewards have far exceeded my expectations.

If you find a good lead company, stay true to yourself, and commit to a solid program there will be no other experience to witness but success. Listen to your heart, do your homework, and know that buying into a program is the easy part, the rest will be left to you and your chosen network to make your construction business a successful reality. You deserve success!!! Seize the day, and enjoy a life of abundance!

Welding is the most economical and efficient way to join metals permanently. Welding is very important for our economy because more than 50% of the gross national product comes from welding. There are different kinds of welding. Some processes cause sparks and others do not require extra heat. Welding can be done for various purposes outdoors, indoors and underwater, outer space.

<a rel="external nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.everlastgenerators.com/products-category-58.html” title=”Welders”>Welders are used for various industry groups. Some of industries where welding is used is agriculture, construction, mining, bulldozers, cranes, material handling equipment, food-processing machinery, papermaking and printing equipment, textiles and office machinery.

Welding is also used in fabricated metals like pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, sheet metal, prefabricated metal buildings and ornamental work. Welding is also used for transportation purpose like shipbuilding, aircraft, spacecraft, railroads, automobiles, trucks, buses, trailers and associated equipment.

Welding is also done for primary metal industries which include steel mills, iron and steel foundries, smelting and refining plants. Another group is the electrical and electronic equipment companies.

Welding is a fusion process, in which metal parts are heated to the melting point and fused together, usually with a filler of the same material melted along with the parent material. There are many types of welding processes like Oxy-acetylene Gas Welding, Arc Welding, Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) and Metal Inert Gas (MIG).

Arc welding is mostly used for structural steel welding. Electric current that flows through a high resistance air gap generates an intense arc with temperatures ranging from 6,000 to10, 000 degrees Fahrenheit. MIG welding are mostly preferred for industrial welding applications. The two basic inert gases used for MIG are Argon and Carbon dioxide. A mixture of 75% Argon and 25% carbon dioxide is also very common.

The shielding gas that is used in TIG is Helium. This process is considered most controllable and cleanest method of welding. TIG process can weld thin, light and dissimilar materials. Soldering and Brazing are the two most common methods of joining two metals. In Soldering and brazing, parent metal is heated and the filler metal is melted into the joint where it cools. Lead based filler metals are used in soldering and brass based filler metals are used in brazing.

Uneven heating and cooling in welding operations gives rise to significant residual stresses in the vicinity of the weld. The residual stresses and discontinuities in a weld have a significant influence on the fatigue life of a part. The fatigue part of a weld is often less than the base material. Residual stresses may be removed by annealing.

Welding is not suitable for all types of metals, as some materials, such as stainless steel can get cracks when overheated. Welding has become highly automatized over the last decade, and the use of welding robots is now common place in certain industries, such as automotive manufacturing plants

A well-liked joke in the 1960s at full service gas stations was’filler up with Ethel and change the air in my tires.’ Today with the price of petrol approaching $3.00 per gallon, why not replace the air in your tires. Not with air but with nitrogen. Filling your tires with nitrogen rather than air will improve gas mileage, help maintain correct tire pressure, keep tires 25% cooler, improve handling and performance and lengthens the life of your tires. NASCAR drivers use nitrogen in their tires for safety reasons, you can too.

Why should you stop putting air in your tires! Compressed air you find at tire shops, gas stations and the compressor you use at home have a high concentrations of water vapor. Compressing air concentrates the water in it and unless really efficient air dryers are used probabilities are there’s water vapors in your tires. Water vapor absorbs and holds heat. This wet air plus heat can increase the pressure in your tires, causing road blow outs, and is one of the explanation why you should check your tire pressure when they’re cold.

This article isn’t about the nitrogen. It’s really about reducing oxygen and water vapor in your tires. The air in our tires is made of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and about 1 percent water vapor and other gases. When pure dry nitrogen is used to replace the air in your tires it improves fuel potency, handling and it will extend the life of steel edges or custom wheels and tires. By reducing oxygen and water vapor in your tires from 22% to less than 7%, your tires will maintain pressure 3 to four times longer. Plus it’ll keep you safer on the road.

How does oxygen and water damage my edges and tires? Oxygen, especially at high temperatures and pressures, corrodes aluminum, steel wheels and rubber. This process is named oxidation. When oxidization occurs small particles of rust and aluminum oxidation in your steel or aluminum wheels can clog valve stems, causing them to leak. The oxidization can cause the surfaces of your wheel flange and tire beads not to seal properly causing another leak point.

Oxygen can also age the thin layer of rubber called the inner liner or radial ply. As the inner liner ages, more air migrates through the rubber, causing extra pressure losses. As oxygen migrates through rubber it can come in contact with steel belts and the steel bead forcing them to rust.

While both nitrogen and oxygen can migrate thru rubber, nitrogen does it much slower. It’d take half a year to lose 2 pounds of nitrogen, compared to less than a month with wet compressed air. Dry nitrogen does not cause rust and corrosion on steel rims or aluminum custom wheels, and it does not degrade rubber like wet compressed air.

Where can I get nitrogen for my tires? Nitrogen is becoming very popular with long haul trucking. Some truck stops have nitrogen available for these big rigs either free or by paying a little fee. They use the same type pay stations that you see at gas stations except they are marked’Nitrogen’. These nitrogen stations are then connected to enormous nitrogen cylinders near by.

you can also get your own little cheap Nitrogen Tanks and have them filled at welding supply stores in your area. Another source for little nitrogen tanks is Paint Ball supply stores either local or on the internet. EBay is an excellent source. These small nitrogen tanks can be filled at welding supply stores and then simply plumbed to fill your tires. Be careful when handling these little nitrogen tanks as they can be filled to as much as 3k psi. Also ensure the nitrogen tank you buy has a regulator attached and it is set for about fifty psi.

Filling your own new tires with nitrogen is a simple process. Jack up one tire till it just clears the ground, remove the tire valve stem and permit the air in your tires to escape. Once all of the air escapes install a new valve stem. Then simply fill your tires with nitrogen from your small nitrogen tank. Repeat the process with the other 3 tires. Do not forget your spare! Your tires should now have about 95% dry nitrogen and you have significantly reduced all the dangers and oxidation Problems discussed above.

If you own a tire store and want to provide nitrogen for your customers buy an Ingersoll Rand Nitrogen Tire Inflation System.
Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor Nitrogen For Your Tires!
.
